Quantum Health selects $1,000 Buzz Away Extreme Video Contest Winner: Mosquito Apocalypse

About 30 people from all over the U.S. submitted videos from ages 13 and up. Storylines ranged from apocalyptic science fiction mosquito dominated worlds to super hero Mosquito Man to clever animation and spoofy commercials. The top 10 finalists were chosen by a panel of judges including advertising, film, music and performing arts professionals.

The top prize of $1,000 was selected based off votes cast at BuzzAwayVideo.com and the second place prize of $250 went to the video with the most online views. The winning video, "Mosquito Apocalypse," was developed by Alex Milanese, a high school mathematics teacher at North Marion High School in West Virginia.

"I made lots of videos back in college and thought it would be nice to get back into making funny, quirky videos," said Milanese. "I ran across this video contest and knew immediately that I wanted to participate. I developed the video concept and storyboard, shot the video and edited it in less than 24 hours."

The second place "Most Viewed" video was awarded to Theresa Golb, a college student and aspiring filmmaker, for her piece entitled "Fifty’s Buzz Away Commercial."
