Top Canadian University Field Tests Name Buzz Away Most Effective Natural Repellent
Eugene, Or June 1998: In independent scientific studies, Quantum's Buzz Away Natural Insect Repellent repelled mosquitoes far better than Natrapel (The Tender Corporation) and Jungle Juice (Nutribiotics).
The study, conducted at the University of Guelph in Ontario, proved that:
Over a 30 minute period, Natrapel users were bitten 4.6 times more often than those protected by Buzz Away. Jungle Juice users received a whopping 11.6 times more bites than Buzz Away users.
Over shorter periods, Buzz Away proved even more effective - 9 times more effective than Natrapel and 26 times more effective than Jungle Juice.
Even 3 hours after application, Buzz Away was still 2-3 times more effective than either Jungle Juice or Natrapel.
"The protection provided by Buzz Away is not statistically different from the protection provided by OFF! Skintastic," according to researcher James Heal, who conducted the study. Skintastic uses the chemical DEET as its active ingredient.
Buzz Away repelled over 95% of mosquitoes - sufficient protection for most mosquito conditions.
"The University of Guelph proved scientifically that Buzz Away works better than other natural repellents," said Quantum sales VP Bruce Schennum. "As more and more consumers look for alternatives to DEET-based repellents, it is the Natural Products Industry's responsibility to offer natural repellents that work. Ineffective natural repellents drive consumers back to DEET-based products."
