Gum Disease - It's Not All About Flossing

More than 30 per cent of the population is thought to suffer from periodontitis, an infection of the gums that can result in tooth loss, but also leads to heart disease, diabetes and pre-term labor.
And as advances in dental medicine allow more people to keep their teeth as they grow older, understanding how to prevent gum diseases is becoming increasingly important. Researchers from the Case Western Reserve University in the US  examined data from 12,110 individuals and reported that those who exercised, had healthy eating habits and maintained a normal weight were 40 per cent less likely to develop periodontitis.* Read more.

Schools Stay Ahead of Head Lice

School's starting and head lice are back in the news. head lice effect mostly kids in elementary school. But contrary to popular opinion, lice don't care if you are rich or poor, educated or not - they strike everywhere. Lice do not carry dangerous diseases, but if left alone will infect everyone in the family. As parents, you can make a big difference by doing a few simple things such as checking your child's hair for lice eggs.  Read more.

Web Sites Worth Visiting

Checking Prescription - Supplement Interactions:
A  new survey reconfirms that elderly people are the most prolific users of dietary supplements, but warns that occasionally they may be exposed to dangerous interactions with prescription drugs. Medscape, a popular on-line reference site, has a drug-supplement interaction checker you can use for free and the Atlanta Journal Constitution also has a very comprehensive checker.

Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor:

I am thrilled with your Super Lysine Plus!!!  I experience cold sores during those stressful periods of life, but am no longer burdened with the pain and frustration of having them, if I start taking my Super Lysine Plus early enough.

I tell everyone that I see is suffering (even the ones in denial about having them), about your products and usually bring some for them to try.  One friend liked it so much, she bought a new tube for me.  I use, and share both the pill form and the cream form and just wanted to say thanks for this wonderful product.

Sincerely,

Melinda M.
